Effective October 5, 2026 · Last updated October 13, 2026 (email list and visitor cookie)
The short version
- No accounts, no advertising trackers, and no outside analytics companies. We keep simple, private visitor counts on our own server, using one small first-party cookie and no stored IP addresses.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and we never have.
- If you join our email list, we keep your email address on our own server and use it only to send Naked Antlers emails. Unsubscribe anytime.
- Some features rely on outside services (YouTube, Google Fonts, the National Weather Service). Those services receive your IP address when your browser contacts them.
- Questions? Email us at the email address on our website.
Who we are
This website, nakedantlers.com, is run by Naked Antlers, Inc. ("we," "us"). This policy covers this website only. It doesn't cover the websites we link to.
Information we collect
Server logs
Our web host, DreamHost, automatically records basic technical information when any page is requested: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and browser type. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting, and keeping the site running. They're kept under DreamHost's standard retention practices and are not used to build profiles of visitors.
Email and the Contact form
If you email us or use our Contact & Feedback form, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose, and your message. The form sends this to our DreamHost-hosted inbox as an email; the website itself doesn't store it in a database. We use it only to reply to you and keep a record of the conversation, and we delete old messages when they're no longer needed.
To stop spam, the form briefly keeps a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address so it can limit how many messages are sent per hour. It's automatically deleted after one hour and can't be turned back into your IP address.
Your location (only if you choose)
The Hunting Hub forecast can use your device's location, but only if you click the location button and your browser asks you for permission and you say yes. The coordinates go directly from your browser to the U.S. National Weather Service to look up your forecast. We don't receive, store, or log them.
Information saved on your own device
The pre-hunt checklist on the Hunting Hub remembers which boxes you ticked by saving them in your browser's local storage, on your device only. It never leaves your device. You can clear it with the checklist's reset button or by clearing your browser's site data.
Private visitor statistics
To understand which pages and videos are useful, our own server counts visits. For each page view we record only: the page, the website that sent you (for example "google.com"), your screen type (phone, tablet or desktop), the hour, and actions like playing a video, opening a report, clicking a store link, searching the product finder or joining the email list. These are kept only as daily totals.
To count unique visitors per day, your IP address and browser type are combined with a random value that changes every day and turned into a one-way code. The code can't be reversed, can't link your visits across days, and is deleted the next day. We never store IP addresses and never share these statistics with anyone. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, you aren't counted at all and no cookie is set.
Site guide
The “Need help finding something?” guide runs entirely in your browser. It searches this website’s own pages; what you type is not sent to us or anyone else. We only count, in our private statistics, which buttons are used and what was searched, the same way we count other site actions.
Cookies
We set one first-party cookie, na_v. It holds only the month of your first visit (for example “2026-10”) so our own statistics can tell new visitors from returning ones. It lasts one year, is read only by this website, contains no personal information, and is never shared with or sent to anyone else. We don’t use advertising cookies or outside analytics companies. (Our private, password-protected stats page also uses a login cookie that only we use.)
You can stop it anytime: clear this site’s cookies in your browser, turn on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, or use this button:
Outside sites may set their own cookies after you leave our site or start a video:
- YouTube videos load through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and only after you click Play. After you press Play, YouTube and Google may store data in your browser under their own privacy policy.
- Retailer and affiliate links (for example, Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's) take you to that retailer's site. The retailer may set cookies there, including cookies that tell them a visit came from us.
Outside services this site uses
When you view certain parts of the site, your browser connects directly to these services. They receive your IP address and basic browser information:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) for the website's typefaces. Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
- YouTube (i.ytimg.com for video thumbnails; youtube-nocookie.com for videos you choose to play).
- National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) for forecasts. NWS privacy policy.
Our server also downloads public RSS and YouTube feeds from hunting publishers to show recent headlines and videos. That happens on our server, so no visitor information is sent to those publishers.
Email list
If you sign up for the Naked Antlers email list, we collect your email address, the date you signed up, the page you signed up on, and the state you picked on our site (if any). We store this privately on our own web server, not on a public page. We use it only to send Naked Antlers emails, such as season dates, new reviews and site news.
We may later move the list to an email service (for example, MailerLite) to send those emails. That service would process your address only to deliver our emails. Every email will include a way to unsubscribe. To be removed now, email us and we’ll delete your address.
We don’t sell, rent or trade the list. To protect against spam, the signup form uses a hidden field and a short timer, and our server keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your connection’s IP address for one hour to limit repeat signups.
YouTube API Services
Our Watch page and Hunting Hub use YouTube API Services to show recent videos, titles and thumbnails from public YouTube channels. Our server requests only public video information; we don’t access any YouTube account, and we don’t collect information about you through the YouTube API. By watching YouTube videos on this site you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Video information we receive from YouTube is refreshed regularly and not kept longer than 30 days.
How we use information
To run and secure the website, answer your messages, understand which pages and videos are most useful, and keep the site's features working. We don't sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it for profiling.
Children
This website is meant for a general and adult audience. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example, Virginia, California, Colorado, and other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to ask what personal information we have about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. To make any request, email us at the email address on our website. We'll respond within 45 days and won't treat you differently for asking. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our response.
We respond to browser privacy signals (Global Privacy Control) as an opt-out request. There's nothing to opt out of, because we don't sell or share your data.
Security
The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS and uses security headers that limit which outside services can load on its pages. No website is perfectly secure, but we keep the information we hold to a minimum.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes, such as adding analytics, a newsletter, or a store, will be described here before they take effect.
